As promised - covers of 1980s songs by contemporary artists (with the obvious exception of the Something Corporate track). This mix has several of my favorite songs on it, especially (but not limited to) the last tracks, which just may be the best cover of one of the best songs ever made. I was torn between various versions of a couple songs (most notably The Boys Are Back In Town) but ultimately went with studio versions over live versions, ruling out a lot of good options.
1. Babies of the Eighties (With Introduction) - Something Corporate
2. Footloose (Kenny Loggins Cover) - Doveman (He covers the entire album here and even if you aren’t interested in listening to the rest of it - which you should, since it’s beautiful - you should really read the what Gabriel Greenberg had to say about the recording at the same location)
3. Against All Odds (Phil Collins Cover) - Postal Service
4. The One I Love (R.E.M. Cover) - Rosie Thomas
5. Just Like Heaven (The Cure Cover) - The Watson Twins
6. Girls Just Wanna Have Fun (Cyndi Lauper Cover) - Greg Laswell
7. Summer of ‘69 (Bryan Adams Cover) - PYT
8. Head Over Heels (Tears for Fears Cover) - Samamidon
9. Love Will Tear Us Apart (Joy Division Cover) - Albanopower
10. The Boys Are Back In Town (Thin Lizzy Cover) - The Mountain Goats
11. Don’t Stop Believin’ (Journey Cover) - Petra Haden
12. If You Leave (OMD Cover) - Nada Surf
13. Somebody’s Baby (Jackson Browne Cover) - Yo La Tengo
14. Where Is My Mind? (Pixies Cover) - Emmy the Great
15. Ceremony (New Order Cover) - Radiohead
