At midnight I decided it was time to get some food and ventured to go visit the best döner man in Berlin during the middle of a snowstorm. After catching snowflakes on the tip of my nose and eating a delicious döner kebab I decided to walk to Warschauer Straße from Kottbusser Tor. Along the way I saw people slipping on frozen ground, rolling giant orbs of snow and throwing much smaller ones at their friends as they emerged from cabs. Once at Warschauer Straße I hopped onto the tram home, where ten or twelve completely drunk Brits were doing birthday shots of Dooley’s. Despite this adventure I’m back safe and sound in bed at 2:45 AM.
On the topic of the U1, today I learned that there used to be another stop - between Warschauer and Schlesisches, called Stralauer Tor that was bombed out during WWII. Having walked past the location of the old station tonight, I don’t understand exactly why it was there, but nevertheless it’s interesting.
