Because of a communication mixup, I ended up having latkes for dinner on Christmas Eve.
My friends are the greatest.
Yesterday I turned 22 and it was one of the best and weirdest days of my life.
First world problems
I paid for expedited shipping for my cape from ASOS and it was supposed to be here yesterday at the latest. It did not arrive yesterday and is still at the destination parcel center (as in, not on a truck to my apartment) which makes me doubt it will get here today.
I just want my fabulous cape. Geeez. But I’ll sit here sipping my lactose free toffee nut latte, go to the book store to...
I just got new pages added to my passport and now the thing will barely close.
But, my gosh, Zehlendorf is stunning at Christmas.
I feel like I’m absolutely not allowed to say “no, I’m not okay” even though everyone keeps asking and it’s the worst fucking feeling in the world.
But then I’d have to explain why I’m not okay and that won’t help anyone and I’m not even sure I can verbalize it.
Me: The ones that aren't done by Stephen Fry, but the other English guy.
Jeff: David Attenborough?
Me: Yes, precisely, the only two English men you need to know.
Jeff: I think Jeremy Clarkson probably falls into that category, too.
Being crazy at 18 is endearing. Being crazy at 21 is just crazy.
I managed to send my back into muscle spasms this morning. Benzodiazepine plus ibuprofen plus heat plus massage managed to get me standing and to class, but now I feel myself drifting off in the classroom and I can’t drink caffeine because I’m pretty sure that would just make my back worse.
The shit they call ‘roast beef’ in the butcher case (not the deli stuff at Karstadt, but rather the roast for roasting) is totally a much shittier cut of beef than we use in the States for roast beef.
Guess I’ll be spending more than anticipated on Christmas dinner. Glad I found out today and not while serving guests.
I'm just feeling really sad.
I bought expensive roast beef from the deli and made an amazing French dip on brötchen but the best part was the sautéed mushrooms and onion with garlic.
Hey Berlin, where is the snow?
Last year in December we had loads of snow. The December before that the first snow occurred about six days later than this, but it was perhaps the worst winter I have ever lived through (and I grew up in New England, so I understand bad weather). The snow began to fall in November in 2008.
This winter is just rain and warmth. I’m not complaining about the lack of snow - that’s fine....
It’s 4.15 in the morning and I can’t sleep and Netflix is streaming so slowly and keeps having to rebuffer so my plan is to sit here eating pretzels until this medication kicks in and I fall back asleep.

Hi, Anxiety.
What are you doing here and why won’t you go away?
Yesterday I made lemon chicken rice soup and gingerbread loaves.
Today I have a migraine and slept a lot.
Meh.
The best way to respond when some random man decides to profess his love to you in the middle of a drugstore is to pretend you don’t understand English.
Promise.
